Created in 2016, Grand Innovation is a newly incorporated Detroit-based 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to make self-sufficiency a reality for parents, youth and the Detroit community. Grand Innovation fulfills its mission by helping individuals in Detroit develop strong business plans and access effective strategies and resources to catalyze business growth and profitability. Grand Innovation also provides intensive one-on-one coaching, hosts networking events, and offers workshops to help start and grow micro and small businesses. Grand Innovation helps entrepreneurs follow the pathway to fulfilling their dreams.

Your generous support will enable Grand Innovation to deliver one of the following critical entrepreneurial programs targeted to disadvantaged entrepreneurs in the City of Detroit:

Entrepreneurial Jumpstart training course paired with business coaching.

We will deliver an 8-week course to support up to 50 low-income, women and/or minority entrepreneurs to develop their entrepreneurial skills and explore their business ideas.

Business Planning and Financial Projections with business coaching

We will support 50 low-income, women and/or minority entrepreneurs to develop business plans complete with financial projections during our hands-on 8-week course.

Entrepreneurship for Returning Citizens

We will educate 250 returning citizens about the opportunities, resources and benefits to self-employment and entrepreneurship and train 50 returning citizens through rolling weekly 3-hour entrepreneurship workshops over a 6-month timeframe in partnership with the MI Department of Corrections Wayne County Lawton parole center.

Grand Innovation requests grants to support its activities and operations in order to provide high-quality business training and technical assistance to help residents of Detroit start and grow businesses, connect to financing, create jobs and reach self-sufficiency.

No matter what your company’s philanthropic budget is, you can make a difference. Below are the sponsorship levels:

Buy meals for each of the training sessions and events

Our aspiring business owners come to the sessions after busy days with their jobs and families. While Grand Innovation cannot provide the participants with food for 12 sessions, adding meals would go a long way in improving participant morale.

Help with marketing the program to communities

Many aspiring small business owners do not know about the opportunity Grand Innovation presents to them. With your contribution, we can run a proper marketing campaign, which will reach more people and change more lives.

Sponsor a cohort for 8-week training

An 8-week training course costs $10,000. Your sponsorship will help transform individuals with aspirations but little wherewithal, into people with the skills and tools needed to implement their business vision.

Sponsor a participant’s small business loan

An individual who graduates our program qualifies for $25,000 in loans towards the startup costs of a new business. Your company can handpick a participant, and track their business’s progress. Your contribution will be given to Grand Innovation, which will then supply the individual with the loan.

As the participants start their business, they have the need for stationary, computers, phones, office furniture, and the like.

Grand Innovation will store your donation, notify all participants and distribute the supplies.
